A quick overview of Congress, to get you started and help you find your way.
1 Dockets and Bills
From the starting page of Congress, you can view the bills in your latest saved docket, switch to a different one from the drop-down menu. From here, you can also visit the "Add Docket" page to add different dockets to your collection, or request new ones if they aren't yet uploaded.
2 News Feed
Using the second icon from the left-side navigation bar you can open the News Feed, which offers thousands of automatically gathered articles from over 50 sources.
3 Congress Round
The Congress Round feature allows you to simulate a tournament round to help you prep. You can use saved dockets, type in a title and add articles to use as evidence. While in a Round, you can also use the Precedence Tracker to help you oversee precedence and recency.
4 Parliamentary Guide
New to congress debate? Find all rules and help you need here.
5 Precedence Tracker
This is a section with resources for users, from Frequently Used Motions and Phrases, Procedures for the Parliamentary Officer and the Debate and a list of terms. The Guide can be accessed by clicking on the third icon from the left side navigation bar.
6 Top Bar
This is where the Searching, Sorting and Filtering options are, as well as where you will find the News Feed. This bar is similar throughout our applications (small variation may be caused by context - eg. docket/bill ordering for the Congress Dockets and Bills pages).
- Clicking the Magnifier icon (or tying in a keyword and hitting the Enter key) will open the Smart Search.
- The world icon opens the News Feed, where you can find new articles from 50 news sources.
- The third icon will open the Filter options for the bills. On the Add Docket page, these filters will change to be relevant for the dockets.
